A pensioner has died after being pulled from the water near Helensburgh Pier.
Emergency services were called to the jetty just before 5pm on Friday after a report of a person seen off the shore.
A 75-year-old woman was rescued from the Firth of Clyde but was pronounced dead shortly after.
Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them if they are able to assist in their inquiries.
Police said the death is not thought to be suspicious but a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a person seen in the water off Helensburgh Pier around 4.55pm on Friday, July 2.
“A 75-year-old woman was removed from the water but was pronounced dead a short time later.
“Enquiries are ongoing into the death however it is not believed to be suspicious and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
“Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area of the pier at the time and who may be able to assist to get in touch.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact officers on 101 quoting incident 2604 of July 2, 2021.”
