A pensioner and a fellow suspect are accused of abducting and trying to kill a woman.
James Dowall, 71, and Deborah Ross, 32, are said to have carried out the crime at a flat in Glasgow’s Maryhill in March 2023.
It is claimed the woman was bound and gagged with duct tape. She was not allowed to leave before allegedly being assaulted.
The violence is said to include being punched, kicked and hit on the head with an electric heater. The woman is said to have fallen to the floor and had “liquid” poured over her.
It is further claimed that the pair made threats, scratched the woman, dragged her by the hair and shoved her into a bath.
The indictment claims this was all to her injury, danger of life and that the duo did attempt to murder her.
The case called for a short hearing at the High Court in Glasgow.
Dowall’s KC Thomas Ross said: “He pleads not guilty. I am content that a trial be appointed.”
Victoria Young, defending Ross, said she was also denying the charge.
Lord Colbeck fixed a trial scheduled to start in December this year.
Dowall, of Maryhill, and Ross, of the city’s Knightswood, remain on bail.
