A pensioner has been killed in a crash while walking in a car park in North Lanarkshire.
The 84-year-old man was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the incident which occurred on Wednesday around 9.20am in Hallcraig Street car park in Airdrie.
The victim had driven a red Ford Fiesta into the car park and was walking when the collision occurred with a blue Honda Civic.
The area was shut down for around four hours while investigations were carried out at the scene and reopened around 1pm.
Sergeant Andy Currie said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at what is a difficult time for them.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash and has not yet spoken to police to contact us.
“The pedestrian had driven a red Ford Fiesta car to the area and we would ask anyone who saw this car and the Civic prior to the crash to get in touch.
“Additionally, if anyone was in the area at the time and has dash-cam footage which may assist, I would ask them to contact us.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0817 of October 26, 2022.”
