A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Cumbernauld.
Officers were alerted to the crash that happened around 8.10am on Sunday at the junction with Locksley Road.
A 49-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital by ambulance where he later died.
The driver of a black Citroen C4 car was not injured.
The road was closed for over five hours before re-opening around 1.50pm.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Sergeant Chris McColm of Lanarkshire Road Policing said: “Our thought are with the family and friends of the man who has died and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We are asking anyone who saw what happened or who might have dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to get in touch.
