Passengers at Glasgow Airport faced security queues of around an hour due to an issue with the site’s X-ray machines.
At around 2.30pm on Monday, Qsensor, Airport Wait Times & Flight Status, said passengers were facing a 57-minute queue time to get through security.
Glasgow Airport confirmed that passengers were facing disruption with check-ins.
They confirmed the issue had been resolved but passengers were still facing ‘minor’ delays.
A statement from Glasgow Airport read: “An earlier technical fault at Glasgow Airport affecting our X-ray machines has now been resolved.
“We appreciate our passengers’ understanding while our teams worked to fix this issue. Some minor disruption may still occur as the airport returns to normal service, so passengers are urged to check the status of their flight with their airline.”
Ronald Leitch, Chief Operating Officer at AGS Airports said: “Just after noon today (Monday 22nd June), our systems reported a loss of connectivity to the hold baggage screening X-ray equipment. This prevented us from security screening hold baggage, and unfortunately we had to suspend check-in operations which led to extended waiting times.
“During this time, our Engineering team worked closely with Smiths Detection to resolve the issue within their system. Check-in was successfully restored at 14:30, alongside the activation of our incident response team to support customers throughout the disruption.
“We apologise to all passengers and staff affected and are working with Smiths Detection to prevent a recurrence of this fault.”
