A man is fighting for life in hospital after a crash on a busy road in North Lanarkshire.
The 64-year-old was a passenger in a Renault Captura, which was involved in a collision with a Scania HGV, in Coatbridge on Thursday.
He is in a critical but stable condition at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow.
The incident happened on the A725 north road near to the entrance to the A8 eastbound, around 12.35pm.
A 67-year-old woman, the driver of the Renault, was taken to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie, where her condition has been described as stable.
The 44-year-old driver of the HGV was not injured.
Sergeant Andrew Currie said: “Our enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing.
“This is a busy road and I would ask any witnesses, or anyone with information that will assist our ongoing investigation to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone driving on that road around the time of the crash with dash-cam footage to get in touch.”
