A section of the M8 motorway in Glasgow will be closed this weekend as the search for a man missing for nearly two months continues.

Billy McDowell, from Whitburn, West Lothian, was last seen on Tuesday, July 28 at his home on Loch Awe Way.

The 58-year-old had visited a number of locations in the town before disappearing and all attempts to trace him since have failed.

Officers leading the search have now announced plans to close the the hard shoulder and Lane 1 of the M8 between junctions 4 and 4a in both directions.

The closures will take place on Saturday and Sunday between 8.30am and 8pm.

Anyone planning on travelling in the area during that time have been advised to allow extra time for their journey.
