Two people are to stand trial accused of trafficking a woman into Scotland for prostitution.

George Coman, 34, and Marusia Mocanu, 32, are charged with committing the crime in early 2024.

The allegation under the Human Trafficking and Exploitation Act stated the pair did exercise “control, direction and influence” over the woman.

The indictment includes claims she travelled over from Romania, was met at Glasgow Airport and taken to a flat in the city’s Govan.

It is claimed the pair did “harbour” the woman there as well as “instruct and compel her to engage in prostitution”.

Prosecutors state she was told to pay £1,300 if she did not agree.

Other accusations on the charge include allegations that she was made to meet with men for sex for money as well as being transported to other locations for prostitution.

There are further claims she was supplied with alcohol and drugs.

It is also said she was driven to Glasgow Airport with arrangements having been made for her to return to Romania.

Coman and Mocanu are separately accused of drug charges and attempting to pervert the course of justice. The former is also charged with assault.

The case called for a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow, where lawyers pleaded not guilty on their behalf.

A trial has now been fixed and is scheduled to begin in November 2025.
