A teenager has become the ninth person to be arrested following anti-Irish singing in Glasgow.

It comes after a video was posted online showing a group of Rangers supporters chanting a racist song referencing the famine whilst marching through the city centre.

Police said they expected to make “numerous arrests” following the incident, which took place ahead of the Old Firm match at Ibrox on Sunday, August 29.

On Wednesday, police confirmed an 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with singing racist material.

Police said the man has been released and is due to appear in court at a later date.

A report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal, police added.
