A nine-year-old girl has sustained “serious injuries” after being struck by a car in North Lanarkshire.
Emergency services rushed to Main Street in Bellshill following reports of a collision at around 6.35pm on May 13.
The girl was then taken to Glasgow’s Royal Hospital for Children, Police Scotland said.
Her condition is described as serious but stable.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Around 6.35pm on Saturday, May 13, we received a report of a pedestrian being struck by a car on Main Street, Bellshill.
“Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a nine-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.
“Her condition is described as serious but stable.
“The road was closed while officers carried out crash investigation work and re-opened around 00.15am on Sunday, May 14.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 6.35pm on Saturday, May 13 to attend an incident on Main Street, Bellshill.
“We dispatched a number of resources to the scene including a rapid response vehicle, an ambulance and the trauma team, and the patient was transported to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow”
