A murder investigation has been launched after a man was found dead in a property in Glasgow.
Officers were called to a property at Glenraith Square, Craigend around 5.45pm on Tuesday, March 17, following concerns for the occupant.
A 49-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene and has been named as David Smith from the local area.
His death is being treated as suspicious following a post-mortem examination, and a murder investigation has been launched.
Detective Chief Inspector Laura Young, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigations Team, said: “Our thoughts are with David Smith’s family and friends at this time.
“Specialist officers are providing them with support as our investigation progresses.
“Extensive enquiries are being carried out, and we are working to establish the full circumstances of what happened in the days before David was found deceased.
“This includes officers going door to door in the local area, as well as thorough analysis of the available CCTV footage from the area.
“I am appealing to anyone who may have any information or believes they have seen any suspicious activity in the Glenraith Square area from Friday, March 13 until Tuesday, March 17 to get in touch.
“Your information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, may be important so please contact us as soon as possible.”
Local Area Commander, Chief Inspector Jon Watters said: “We understand the impact this will have on the local community and we would like to thank everyone for their help so far with our enquiries
“There will be a continued police presence in the area and I would urge anyone who may have concerns or information to approach our officers.”
