Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man who was found stabbed in a Glasgow street.

Omer Sadiq, 32, was found seriously injured by officers who were flagged down on Boydstone Road at around 1.25pm on Tuesday.

Mr Sadiq was taken to the city’s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Police launched a murder probe following the results of a post-mortem.

Investigating officers are following a “positive line of enquiry” and believe it was a targeted attack.

Detective inspector Brian Gribbons, based at Govan CID, said: “We are following a positive line of enquiry, however we would still appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact us.

“We believe this was a targeted attack and there was no wider risk to the public.”
