A suspect accused of murdering a man recorded a video of his alleged victim badly hurt, a trial heard.
Jordan Honeyman, 30, is claimed to have killed Alan Lawson at a property in Largs, Ayrshire between February 2 and 4, 2024.
It is claimed the 36-year-old was repeatedly punched, kicked and struck with “a sharp instrument”.
Honeyman allegedly then jumped from a staircase onto Mr Lawson’s head and body.
The man’s feet are also said to have been scalded. It is further claimed that he was stripped of his clothes.
The charge states Honeyman applied glue to Mr Lawson’s injuries, forced him into a shower and then failed to get medical help.
It is said Mr Lawson passed away on February 6 at University Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock.
Honeyman faces a separate charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner between January 25 and February 3, 2024.
This includes a claim that he video recorded Mr Lawson as he lay naked, injured and covered in blood before sending the footage to another named man.
Among other allegations in the indictment, Honeyman is accused of attempting to defeat the ends of justice with 28-year-old Bryan Carey.
Prosecutors claim bloodstained carpets, rugs, furniture, clothes, footwear, weapons, a mobile phone and rosary beads were removed from the alleged murder scene.
It is also said that an attempt was made to clean the area.
The High Court in Glasgow heard from a witness who stated his brother had bad blood with Honeyman.
He stated that he exchanged messages on social media with Honeyman to arrange a meeting and fight each other.
During the message exchanges, the witness claimed that he was sent a video by Honeyman from which he made screenshots.
He told the court he had seen a person he later found out to be Mr Lawson “lying down with no clothes on with blood around him”.
The witness said he also saw Honeyman in the video.
Jurors were shown CCTV footage from the early hours of February 3, 2024, showing a man, who was stated to be Honeyman, outside the house of a neighbour to the witness’s mother.
In the clip, the man can be heard shouting on the witness and also calls him a “s***bag” and states: “Hurry up big man.”
Honeyman and the witness then went on to exchange words in the courtroom, with the latter saying: “Shut your dish.”
Judge Lord Arthurson warned Honeyman about his behaviour and that he could be excluded from the courtroom.
The witness went on to explain that he arranged to meet Honeyman for a fight in an area in Ardrossan without cameras.
He went on to claim that on his way there, Honeyman attacked him from behind which included a headlock and punches to his head.
The witness stated that he received a mark to his eye.
Amid an argument between the pair, jurors were shown text messages allegedly sent between Honeyman and the witness.
Honeyman is seen to text: “Mate you screenshotted my video ya grass. You will be the man with five holes in you next.”
A further message said: “Guy is half dead for getting wide.”
Jurors listened to an audio message allegedly sent by Honeyman to the man on February 2, 2024.
Part of the clip showed Honeyman allegedly saying: “I just lacerated a c*** and put five holes into him for less. I will bounce down right now.”
After the message was heard, further words in the courtroom were exchanged by Honeyman and the witness, which resulted in a short adjournment to the trial.
In a voice message on February 3, 2024, Honeyman allegedly said: “You see the video I sent last night, you will be the next dead body f***ing s****bag.”
Tony Graham KC, defending, asked the witness if he took Honeyman’s threats seriously and he replied: “No, not until he turned up at my mum’s door.”
Mr Graham: “Did he take anything you said seriously?
The witness said: “No.”
Mr Lawson’s cause of death was found to be thrombosis of the internal carotid artery due to head and neck injuries.
The trial continues tomorrow before Judge Lord Arthurson.
