A mum has led the tributes to her 12-year-old daughter after she died suddenly following an asthma attack.

Katy Bulpitt, who was a pupil at Our Lady’s High School in Cumbernauld, passed away on Tuesday, November 2.

The local community came together at Sandyknowes and Wallbrae Park on Thursday to release balloons in memory of the schoolgirl, the eldest of five siblings.

Mum Tracy Bulpitt said it was “an amazing tribute to such a special girl”, who she described as her “precious angel”.

Katy leaves behind her mum, dad Martyn and younger siblings Kallan, Maycee, Charlotte, Carter and Marissa.

The 12-year-old had been an altar server at St Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Cumbernauld. A spokesperson for the parish said the community was in mourning.

An online fundraiser has raised more than £9000 to support the family.

It read: “Katy had such a brilliant personality and she would always do anything to help anyone out.

“She was well known within the Sandyknowes and Walbrae community for helping out with dog walking, taking the younger kids to park or even just chapping the door for a wee chat.

“She will be missed by everyone.”
