A mum spat on an officer after attending a large birthday party during lockdown which sparked a police emergency.
Shannon Donohoe was one of 50 guests in an inflatable garden gazebo in Glasgow’s Milton on July 4, 2020.
The 26-year-old lashed out at the officers who tried to disperse the revellers.
The mum-of-one made attempts to break free of handcuffs before spitting in the face of constable Martin Maguire.
Donohoe – a first offender – swore at officers and made a homophobic remark.
On Friday, the part-time hairdresser pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner aggravated by prejudice relating to sexual orientation.
She also admitted resisting, obstructing or hindering police and assaulting PC Maguire.
The court heard officers attended the scene after a tip-off about a garden party at 10.30pm.
Officers found the 50 revellers housed in an inflatable gazebo playing loud music.
Donohoe confronted PC Caroline McGrath, shouting and swearing.
The officer took hold of Donohoe’s arm and attempts were made to apply handcuffs on her.
Donohoe repeatedly slipped her arms through the cuffs and would not remove her grip.
She flailed her arms and legs before officers restrained her on the ground.
Prosecutor Emma Baker said: “She lashed out her arms hitting PC Maguire to the face.
“She then collected spit in her mouth and spat at PC Maguire with it landing on his face.”
Donohoe was led to the police vehicle where she continued to shout and swear.
Ms Baker added: “Officers arrested other people and there was a large-scale disturbance which resulted in a large-scale police presence to attend.
“There was an emergency in place due to the amount of people who attended the party.
“Five other people were prosecuted at a lower level.”
This included for breaches of Covid regulations, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner and police assaults which did not include spitting.
Marisa Borland, defending, told the court that it was not Donohoe’s party.
The lawyer added: “It was an ex-colleague’s partner’s birthday party.
“She attended for a long time and drank to excess.”
Sentence was deferred until next month pending background reports.
Donohoe, of the city’s Springburn, was granted bail meantime.
