The mother of a teenager who died after an alleged stabbing on Saturday at Irvine beach never wants “this to happen to another family“.
The 16-year-old from East Kilbride was found seriously injured on Irvine beach following a disturbance around 6.45pm on Saturday, May 17.
He received medical care at the scene but died in hospital a day later.
A 17-year-old male from East Kilbride appeared in private at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday in connection with the death.
The teenager made no plea and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
He was charged with murder, attempting to pervert the course of justice and carrying an offensive weapon in a public place.
Kayden’s mum, Ashley Drummond, took to social media to thank everyone for their “kind messages” and stated “this has to stop”.
She wrote: “I see all the kind messages coming through. This has to stop, I don’t ever want this to happen to another family”.
The death of the 16-year-old came just over ten weeks after Amen Teklay, 15, died in Glasgow following an alleged stabbing.
Officers arrested three boys aged 16, 15 and 14 in connection with his death.
