A mum and her teenage son have been left “heartbroken” after blaze burned down their house in Glasgow.
Mum Jennifer had been at work when she received a call on Wednesday, June 15, informing her that her property in the Athletes Village in Dalmarnock was on fire.
Leanne Lamont, a cousin, said the devastating blaze began around 3pm, and started “when the solar panels on a neighbouring property caught fire”.
The fire spread to Jennifer’s home, leaving the mum and her 13-year-old son Noah with nothing.
SuppliedThe mother and son have been told that repairs to their home could take up to a year.
Leanne told STV News: “Sadly, there was nothing they were able to salvage from the property. The only belongings they have are the clothes they were wearing to work and school that day.”
Leanne said she decided to set up a GoFundMe page to support the family with the “immediate essentials”, including clothing and toiletries.
“This devastating event has caused significant financial hardship, and Jennifer now faces the enormous challenge of rebuilding her life and providing stability for her 13-year-old son,” she added.

“Their house has been condemned, and they are both absolutely heartbroken. Jennifer and Noah have lived in the Athletes’ Village since the property was first built, making the loss of their home even more devastating.
“As a family, we are incredibly grateful that no one was injured in the fire. We would also like to sincerely thank everyone who has already donated to or shared this GoFundMe page.
“Your kindness, generosity, and support mean so much and will help Jennifer and Noah begin to rebuild their lives after this tragic event.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.31pm on Wednesday, 17 June, to reports of a dwelling fire on London Avenue, Glasgow.
“Operations Control mobilised six appliances and a high-reach vehicle to the scene, where firefighters worked to extinguish a fire affecting the roof of a three-storey building.
“There were no reported casualties, and crews left after ensuring the area was safe.”
