Multiple roads in Glasgow City Centre were closed due an ongoing “police incident” on Tuesday morning.

The council’s traffic management body issued an update at around 1am revealing roads were shut.

Union Street was closed from Gordon Street to Argyle Street, and Argyle Street was closed from Hope Street to Mitchell Street.

Albert Bridge was also closed from Clyde Street to Ballater Street shortly before midnight on Monday but reopened at 2.10am.

Local access was being permitted to Union Street and also from Hope Street to Union Street within the Argyle Street closure.

Emergency services remained at the scene several hours later with drivers urged to seek alternative routes if possible.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
