Multiple roads have been closed in Glasgow after a fire broke out in a tenement.

Emergency services were alerted to the incident in Pollokshields at around 5.50am on Tuesday.

Albert Drive, Kenmure Street, Leslie Street and Keir Street have been closed and the public has been urged to avoid the area.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service dispatched four appliances to the blaze at a building on Albert Drive.

As of 9.30am, fire crews are still in attendance.

“The flames were right up the side of the whole building. It looked to me like it was the Londis basement that had caught fire but I might be wrong,” said River City actor and local resident Tom Urie said.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.29am on Tuesday, October 29, to reports of a fire at a commercial property on Albert Drive, Glasgow.
