Police ScotlandA “much-loved husband, father and grandfather” who was killed in a town centre crash has been named.
Francis Hooper was driving in Stirling Street, Airdrie, when his vehicle collided with a bus and two other cars on Friday.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.25pm and the 58-year-old, from North Lanarkshire, was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.
His family released a short statement through Police Scotland on Sunday, saying: “Frank was a much loved husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew him.”
Officers are now investigating the incident and have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
Road Policing Sergeant Nick Twigg said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Mr Hooper.
“Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact us via 101.”
