A man is fighting for his life after his motorbike crashed in Ayrshire.
The 40-year-old was driving the KTM bike on the B743 Muirkirk to Strathaven road on Sunday when the single-vehicle crash occurred around 3.50pm.
He was taken by ambulance to Wishaw General Hospital where medical staff described his condition as critical.
The road was closed between Muirkirk and Dungavel for around six hours to allow enquiries to be carried out.
Sergeant Paul Mellis from Glasgow Road Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for information to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and would ask anyone who witnessed the collision, or who was in the area at the time and has a dash-cam fitted to their vehicle to contact us.”
Information can be passed to Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 2137 of Sunday, April 17.
