Officers were alerted to the collision that happened on the A760 Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie road on Friday.

A motorcyclist has been taken to hospital after a “serious” crash involving a motorhome in North Ayrshire.

Officers were alerted to the collision that happened on the A760 Lochwinnoch to Kilbirnie road on Friday.

The incident involved a black Ducati motorbike and a grey Fiat Ducato motorhome.

The rider of the motorbike, a 37-year-old man, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment of “serious but not life-threatening” injuries.

The driver of the motorhome, a 66-year-old man, was uninjured.

The road was closed for around nine hours to allow for crash investigation work and re-opened around 9.30pm.

Sergeant Sean Dempsey said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are asking anyone who saw what happened or either of the two vehicles before the crash to get in touch.

“We would be particularly keen to speak with the driver of a vehicle which was overtaken by the motorbike around the time of the crash.

“I would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could help with our investigation to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1629 of May 17.”
