A man is in a critical condition in hospital following a crash between a motorbike and three lorries in Lanarkshire.

The motorbike and three HGVs were involved in a serious crash on the A725 southbound at the slip for Hamilton Road in Bellshill around 12.25pm on Wednesday March 8.

Emergency services attended and a 56-year-old man, the rider of the motorbike, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition is described as critical but stable. 

No one else was injured as a result of the crash.

The road was closed for road crash investigation work and recovery and reopened around 11.30pm.

Road policing officer David Murdoch said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances relating to this crash are ongoing and we are appealing for information.

“In particular we are asking for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist with our investigation to come forward.“If you can assist please call us on 101, quoting incident number 1328 of Wednesday, March 8, 2023.”
