A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a lorry in Dumfries and Galloway.

Emergency services were called at 4.25pm on Wednesday to the crash on the B7076, at Newton Wamphray, which involved a red and cream Moto Guzzi motorbike, a silver Ford Eco-sport, and a white DAF lorry.

The motorcycle driver, a 61-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the lorry did not require treatment.

Police are now appealing for information to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

The road reopened around 11.30pm.

It comes after another crash involving a Moto Guzzi motorbike, a silver Ford Eco-sport, and a white DAF lorry, on the A68 on Wednesday afternoon.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 70-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.

“We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dashcam footage to come forward.”
