Motorcyclist dies at scene after crash with van on A76

A 51-year-old man has died following a two-vehicle crash in Ayrshire.

A man has died following a crash between a motorcycle and a van in Ayrshire.

The 51-year-old was on a red Suzuki motorcyle involved in a collision with a white Mercedes Sprinter van on the A76 at its junction with the B713 for Catrine.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services who attended shortly after 9.30pm on Saturday.

A 33-year-old man who was driving the van was taken to Ayr Hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

The road was closed until around 5.40am on Sunday to allow for an investigation to take place.

Sergeant Ian Thornton of Police Scotland Road Policing said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“We are working to establish the full circumstances which led to this collision and would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“We would be keen to speak to anyone who saw either of the vehicles before the incident or who may have dashcam footage which could be of use.

“Anyone who can assist our investigation is asked to call 101.
