A motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash in Ayrshire.

The 63-year-old man was riding a red Honda motorbike on the A70 when it collided with a blue Nissan car just after 2pm on Sunday.

Emergency services attended the scene between Ayr and Coylton and the motorcyclist was pronounced dead by medical staff.

The driver of the car was uninjured and the road was closed for around nine hours as police carried out investigations.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the collision.

Sergeant Scott Sutherland, of the Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the man who has lost his life.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing and we are appealing to members of the public to help assist with our investigation.

“I would ask if you were driving in the area at the time and have any information that could help our enquiries that you get in contact with officers.

“I would also appeal to any motorists who have possible dashcam footage of the area to come forward and speak to police.”
