A 57-year-old man is in a serious condition after a crash involving a van and a motorbike.

A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital after being involved in a crash with a van on the A713 near Dundeugh.

Emergency services were called to the crash involving a BMW motorbike and Mercedes Sprinter van on the Ayr to Castle Douglas road around 11am on Sunday.

A 57-year-old man, who was riding the motorbike, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for around nine hours while investigations were carried out.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to get in touch.

Constable Chris Kirkpatrick said: “Our enquiries into this collision remain ongoing and we are appealing to anyone that witnessed the incident to come forward.

“We would also like to speak to anyone who saw the vehicles, or has dashcam footage of them, prior to the crash.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident 1395 of August 18.
