Men charged after £1m of cocaine seized in raid

Four men have been charged after drugs with an estimated value of £1.1m were seized in “significant” recoveries across Scotland.

On Wednesday, officers discovered cocaine with an estimated value of £1m after executing a search warrant at a house in Carleton Drive in Giffnock.

Police confirmed two men, aged 29 and 35, have been charged in connection with the recovery.

The pair are due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Thursday.

The force made a second recovery on the same day after stopping a Toyota Yaris on the A74 northbound, near to junction 17 at Lockerbie.

Cannabis with an estimated street value of £100,000 was recovered from the vehicle around 6.40pm.

Two men, aged 29 and 58, were charged in connection and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Thursday.

Police said the “significant” recoveries highlighted it’s determination to protect the public.

The force is urging anyone with information on drug activity in their area to get in touch.

Detective superintendent Stevie Elliot said: “These significant recoveries highlight our determination to protect the public from this type of harmful criminality.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country’s Serious Organised Crime Strategy and we will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle this issue and make our communities safer.
