Two men are to stand trial next year accused of running over and murdering a teenager.

Dean Wright, 31, and Robert Farrell, 32, allegedly killed Liam Hendry after driving at him in a van in Glasgow’s Barrowfield on September 29, 2019.

Prosecutors claim the pair were under the influence of alcohol and cocaine at the time.

It is alleged they drove at excessive speed and struck the 18-year-old on the road, sending him into the air.

The van is said to have been turned around and “on two further occasions” attempts were made to drive over the teen as he lay unconscious.

The teenager is described as being so severely injured that he later died following the alleged incident close to Celtic Park.

Wright and Farrell are separately accused of trying to kill four people.

It is alleged they tried to hit the group with the van forcing them to take “evasive action”.

Wright alone faces a further charge of possession of cocaine at the scene and at Glasgow’s Royal Infirmary.

His advocate, Tony Graham, and Thomas Ross, defending Farrell, pleaded not guilty on their behalf during a brief hearing at the High Court in Glasgow on Friday.

Judge Lady Stacey fixed a trial due to begin on January 5 next year.

The trial is expected to last around seven days.
