A man was assaulted shortly after arriving home from work in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Police are appealing for information after two armed suspects forced entry in the 39-year-old’s house in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire, and demanded money.
Both men struggled with the homeowner and eventually made off, empty handed.
The man did not require any medical attention.
One of the suspects is described as being around 5ft 9in in height and the second as 5ft 11in.
Both were wearing dark clothing and a balaclava.
Detective Constable Graeme Stoddart of Wishaw CID said: “The man was not injured but was left shaken as a result of this incident.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard anything around the time to get in touch.”
