A man and a woman have appeared in court in connection with the murder of a grandfather in Glasgow.
Emergency services were called to Young Terrace in Springburn at around 9.50am on Tuesday, February 8 after receiving a report of a man injured within a flat.
Brian Maley, 52, was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Wednesday, Maria Gardiner, 45, and James Houston, 33, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court in connection with the incident.
The pair, of Glasgow, have been charged with murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.
Both Gardiner and Houston made no plea and were remanded in custody ahead of their next hearing.
The case was committed for further examination, with the pair expected to be back in the dock within the next eight days.
Earlier in the day, detective chief inspector Stuart Grainger, of Police Scotland’s Major Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts remain with Brian’s family at what continues to be a difficult time for them.
“I would also like to thank the local community for their patience, help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information.”
