A manhunt has been launched after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted in Coatbridge.
The 17-year-old woman was walking on a lane near Blair Road and Auldhame Street around 1am on Sunday when she was approached by a man.
The suspect is described as white, with dark hair and was wearing a padded jacket and dark trousers.
An increased police presence will remain in the area following the “extremely distressing” incident.
Detective sergeant Jo McCall said: “This was an extremely distressing incident for the victim and it’s imperative we identify the man responsible.
“I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and assist our investigation.
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area and who may have dash cam or private CCTV which could assist to contact us.”
