A man who repeatedly stabbed his nephew in a rage over a takeaway has been jailed for 19 months.
Robert Kenna, 41, struck the man with a knife at their home in Glasgow’s Barmulloch on January 10 last year.
The victim had been annoyed that Kenna had returned with food from a takeaway and had not purchased him something.
He then stole his uncle’s kebab sauce before he lashed out and knocked over his food.
Kenna then grabbed a knife and hit the victim with the blade before the pair came to blows in a bedroom.
The victim was taken to hospital for a number of wounds which had to be stitched.
Robert pled guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to the assault to severe injury.
He also admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Sheriff Gerard Bonnar told him: “This is a most serious offence.
“The use of a weapon in this manner in all the circumstances is very serious indeed.
“Only a custodial sentence is appropriate.”
The court heard that the two men lived with Kenna’s sister at the time.
Ian Sievwright, defending, told the sentencing that the offence was “out of character” for his client.
The lawyer added: “He accepts there was a disagreement over food and this annoyed him.
“He then took the knife and committed the offences.
“He is candid about his behaviour and has shown appropriate empathy for the victim and understands the harm that he caused.”
