Man who died in junction crash named as police call for witnesses

Ian Spencer, from the Castle Douglas area, was pronounced dead after a one car crash at a junction in Dalbeattie.

A man who died in a crash in Dumfries and Galloway has been named as police investigations continue.

Police were called to Craignair Street, near the junction with Port Road, Dalbeattie, after a crash involving a car at the four-way road junction.

A 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has been named locally as Ian Spencer from the Castle Douglas area.

Enquiries into the full circumstances of this crash are ongoing and officers are appealing for information.

Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Ian at this difficult time.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash and who hasn’t already spoken to officers to please get in touch.

“I am also appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time and who may have any dashcam footage which could assist us to make contact.”
