Arrest made after man fatally injured in flat disturbance

A man has died in hospital after being found seriously injured in a Glasgow flat on Sunday night.

Paul Byrne was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at around 8pm following a disturbance within a property on Glenalmond Street in the Sandyhills area.

However, medical staff were unable to save the 47-year-old and he died a short time later.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death.

He appeared at court in Glasgow on Tuesday.

The public have been thanked for helping the police with their investigation into the incident.

Detective Inspector Cheryl Kelly said: “Our thoughts remain with Paul’s family at what continues to be a very difficult time for them. 

“I would also like to thank the local community for their help and assistance during our investigation and to those who came forward with information.”
