A man who died following a car crash in South Ayrshire has been named by police.

Adam Smith, 19, died when a Ford Fiesta crashed on the A77 near Ballantrae on Sunday at around 12.30am.

Police Scotland said Smith lived near the area of the crash.

Sergeant Stewart Taylor from Irvine’s Road Policing Unit urged anyone who witnessed the incident to contact the force.

He said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Adam at this difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed the crash or who may have information which can assist, and who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash-cam footage to contact us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0207 of May 14.
