The incident happened between 12.45pm and 1.15pm on Thursday afternoon near to a red van within the Tesco car park in North Road, Bellshill.
A 26-year-old man was attacked by a group of men, who were all wearing black balaclavas, before fleeing the scene in a black Range Rover.
