Police appeal launched after man injured in attempted theft

Officers are appealing for any witnesses after the incident in Cumnock on Friday.

An appeal has been launched after a man was assaulted by two during a theft attempt in East Ayrshire.

The 35-year-old was treated at the scene after being attacked by two men in the Leggate area of Cumnock, at around 5.15pm on Friday.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who has information about the incident to come forward and contact police.

The first man is described as white, around 40-years-old, with dark coloured hair and a scar from his left eye to his lip and was wearing a black hoodie, black tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

The second suspect is described as a white man, around 20-years-old, with short, black hair shaved at the side and was wearing a white jumper and jeans.

Detective constable Kevin Simpson of Ayrshire CID said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into this incident and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“We are keen to speak to anyone in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident.

“We would also be keen to hear from anyone driving passed at the time who may have dashcam footage.

“Anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting incident 2740 of September 2, 2022.”
