A man brutally assaulted a woman unconscious.
Darren Finnegan turned on the woman in a flat close in Glasgow’s Newlands on May 8 this year.
The 29-year-old and the victim were heard arguing before Finnegan punched and kicked her to the head and body.
Officers found Finnegan holding the motionless woman and had clumps of her hair in his hands.
On Wednesday, Finnegan pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assaulting the woman to her severe injury.
The court heard a witness heard a man and woman arguing outside his flat.
Prosecutor Claire Wallace said: “At this point he looked through his peephole to see a man in black punch and kick a woman to the head and body.”
The witness contacted the concierge and a 999 call was made.
Ms Wallace added: “Police arrived and saw Finnegan sitting holding her head as she lay unconscious face down.
“Finnegan had clumps of her hair stuck in his hand.
“[The victim] had severe bruising and swelling to the right side of her face and ear as well as blood coming from her mouth.”
An ambulance arrived and took her to hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Finnegan was arrested and taken to a police station.
Sentence was deferred until next month pending background reports and Finnegan was remanded in custody meantime.
