A former Asda manager took indecent pictures of a 16-year-old schoolboy standing beside him at a urinal.

David Groves, 29, was caught covertly snapping his victim at Glasgow Central train station on December 16 last year.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that the boy had been at school and had gone to the station with his friend around 5pm.

The boy went to the toilets before he was due to board his train to South Lanarkshire.

Prosecutor Ross Chapman said: “While standing at the urinal, he became aware of Groves, who was standing beside him.

“The boy noticed that Groves had his mobile phone in his hand and appeared to be taking pictures of him.

“The boy could see that Groves was pointing the camera at him and was using the volume button to take pictures.”

Groves, of Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, then put his phone in his pocket quickly.

The boy was stated to feel “uncomfortable” and took time to think about what had happened to him.

He left the toilet and waited for his friend while Groves passed him when exiting too.

The boy told his friend what had happened to him, and they saw two police officers.

However, they became frightened to tell the officers as Groves was standing behind them.

Mr Chapman added: “The boy was visibly shaken and scared by what had just happened to him.”

The boys boarded the train, and the victim’s dad was later informed about what had taken place.

The police were then contacted, and inquiries took place, which resulted in Groves being traced.

Groves pleaded guilty to a charge of voyeurism.

The sentence was deferred until next month by Sheriff Bernard Ablett, who ordained Groves.
