A man is to appear in court over the death of a woman at a flat in Glasgow.

Brodie MacGregor, 23, was pronounced dead by emergency services who had been called to the property on Elmvale Street in the Springburn area at around 10.15am on Monday.

Detectives launched a murder investigation following the results of a post-mortem examination.

The case has also been referred to the law enforcement watchdog, the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner.

Police Scotland confirmed a 52-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death.

The man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Friday. However, he has not been charged, STV News understands.

The force added that a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

Earlier, detectives set up an online major incident public portal (MIPP) in a bid to encourage potential witnesses to share information regarding the death.

Detective chief inspector Lynsey Watters said: “Our thoughts remain with Brodie’s family and friends at this very difficult time.

“We are providing them with support as our investigation continues to establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“We would again urge anyone who may have any information to get in touch. Any information, no matter how small, could be vital in establishing what happened to Brodie.

“A police presence remains in the Springburn area as our enquiries continue and I would encourage anyone with information or concerns to speak with these officers.
