A man threatened a shop worker at knifepoint before making off with a till monitor in Ayrshire.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident that took place at a convenience store on Knockinlaw Road in Kilmarnock.

The suspect entered the shop at around 7pm on Friday before producing the blade and threatening a worker.

He is described as being around 5ft10 with a skinny build and dressed all in black, including a black anorak.

Detectives investigating the incident are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who were walking dogs near to the store when the man made off.

Detective Constable Gillian Wilson said: “Our enquiries into this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward.

“We are particularly keen to speak to a man and a woman who were walking dogs near to the shop at the time the man made off.

“We would also be keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam or private CCTV from the area.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting reference 3477 of 27 October, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
