A convicted criminal who put a woman with cancer through an ordeal also attacked police officers who came to her aid when she called 999.
Jordan Rouse assaulted the victim, brandished a machete, called her names, threw rubbish on her and smashed a television.
The woman managed to escape and dialled 999.
Rouse then turned on police, including choking one officer and also threatening to make a petrol bomb, insisting he “was not going away peacefully”.
The 34-year-old admitted to the crimes as he appeared in the dock at the High Court in Glasgow.
The woman first got to know Rouse in late 2023.
She was later diagnosed with cervical cancer, with treatment including both chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
Prosecutor Anna Chisholm said Rouse called her “fat and lazy” and that she “could not cook” or “keep the house tidy”.
Friends noticed she was often “walking on eggshells” around him.
In March 2025, Rouse broke a television after punching it.
He had later been drinking when he pushed the woman to the ground.
Ms Chisholm said: “While she was lying on the floor, Rouse put his foot on her neck and applied pressure.”
The same month, the victim was recuperating, having spent a week in hospital.
Rouse was aggressive with her, slamming doors, as well as putting the TV and music volume up full blast.
The woman begged him to stop, but he instead tossed debris swept from the floor over her.
In July 2025, Rouse was described as being in “one of those evil moods”.
He picked up a machete at one stage and brandished the weapon at the woman.
Rouse went on to clamp his hands around her neck until she was seeing “flashing lights” and “like her head was going to explode”. He also sank his teeth into her face.
Ms Chisholm stated the victim was “terrified”.
She eventually got away, ran downstairs and called for help.
Rouse yelled at police when they appeared: “F*** off, I am not going anywhere with you.”
The officers struggled to get him under control and had to get back-up.
He bit a police officer and then put him in a tight headlock.
Ms Chisholm said: “The constable struggled to breathe and felt as though he may lose consciousness.”
Another officer was also lifted from her feet and slammed against a kitchen unit.
The officer eventually broke free. The court heard Rouse threw a brush and pushed another officer.
After finally being held, Rouse stated at the police station: “I get you in a headlock, and it is only going one way.”
Ms Chisholm said one of the officers was off work for a number of weeks recovering.
Rouse pled guilty to a total of six charges, including assaulting both the woman and one of the officers to the danger of their lives.
Rhonda Anderson, defending, said: “These are extremely serious offences and nothing short of atrocious behaviour.
“He was clear that he wanted to resolve the matter to avoid any further distress (for the woman).”
Lord Arthurson continued his remand in custody as sentencing was adjourned until March for reports.
