A man has been rushed to hospital following a multi-vehicle crash amid icy conditions on Scotland’s busiest motorway.
At least two cars and two vans were involved in the collision on the M8 eastbound at junction six near Chapelhall.
Officers shut the road for more than two hours after responding to calls at around 7.45am on Tuesday.
A 26-year-old man has been reported in connection with a road traffic offence and the road was reopened at around 10.20am.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 7.45am on Tuesday, March 7, police were called to a report of a crash involving four vehicles on the M8 eastbound near Chapelhall.
“A 50-year-old man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Monklands in Airdrie.
“A 26-year-old man will be reported in connection with a road traffic offence.
“The road fully reopened around 10.20am.”
