Man taken to hospital after serious assault near Shotts cemetery

A man has been taken to hospital following a serious assault near a cemetery in North Lanarkshire.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Stane Cemetery, Shotts, at around 2.10pm on Sunday, October 4, following reports of a serious assault.

A 27-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed an investigation is ongoing and is appealing for information.

Detective inspector Vicki Douglas said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the incident, to get in touch.

“I would also urge anyone who was driving in the area around the time of the incident to check their dash-cam footage, as they may have captured something which could assist our investigation.

“Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident 1549 of October 4.”
