A man was taken to hospital after being knocked down in a hit and run east of Glasgow city centre.

Emergency services were called out to Duke Street in Dennistoun at around 11.20pm on Thursday to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

A 30-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

Police Scotland said the driver of the car left the scene before officers arrived.

A spokesperson said: “At round 11.20pm on Thursday officers attended a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Duke Street, Glasgow.

“A 30-year-old man, the pedestrian, was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and later released.

“The car left the scene before officers arrived and enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicle and driver.

“Anyone with any information can contact Police Scotland by calling 101, and quoting incident number 4216 of Thursday.”
