A man has been taken to hospital following a collision involving a First bus and a cherry picker in Glasgow.

The crash occurred on Baird Street in the Townhead area of the city at around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Emergency services were called to the scene, and a man, believed to be a worker operating the cherry picker’s elevated platform, was taken to hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

Police say enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A spokesperson said: “Around 12.40pm on Tuesday, August 18, we received a report of a man injured after a cherry picker was struck by a bus in the Baird Street area of Glasgow.

“The injured man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

A spokesperson for First Bus said: “One of our services was involved in an incident on Baird Street in Glasgow earlier today, where the bus came into contact with a ‘cherry picker’ vehicle.

“The emergency services attended and we understand a worker operating from the elevated platform was injured and taken to hospital for treatment. We have no reports that passengers or our driver were hurt.

“We are assisting the police with its investigation into the circumstances that led to this incident.”
