A man has been left injured after alleged serious assault in an early morning attack on a West Dunbartonshire street.

The 43-year-old was taken to Queen Elizabeth University hospital in Glasgow following the incident in Clydebank.

Emergency services attended the scene on Whitecrook Street at around 4.30am on Sunday.

Police arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with the assault before he was released pending further investigations.

Officers are now appealing for more information and have urged witnessed to come forward.

Detective Constable Rachael Mersey said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing for help.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened is asked to get in touch.

“We are also asking people to check their CCTV and if they have captured anything that could assist with our investigation then to please make contact with officers.”
