A man has been taken to hospital after being struck by a van in Ayr.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on Beresford Terrace at its junction with Parkhouse Street at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, May 14.

The incident involved a pedestrian and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van.

Officers said the pedestrian, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries.

The driver of the van, a 39-year-old man, was arrested in connection and later released pending further enquiries.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the crash to come forward.

Constable Ashleigh MacLachlan, Road Policing Unit, said: “Our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who saw the crash who hasn’t already spoken to officers to get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 3390 of May 14.”
