A man has been left in a serious condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Glasgow in the early hours of Monday morning.

At around 12.20am on May 1, a 37-year-old man was crossing the road on Balshagray Avenue, near its junction with Crow Road when he was struck by a grey Volkswagen Tiguan.

Emergency services attended and he was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

The road was closed for around five hours and reopened around 5.20am.

Police are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.

Constable Simon Parker said: “Enquiries are ongoing into the cause of this crash and I would appeal to any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist us, to make contact.

“I am also keen to obtain any dashcam from motorists driving on the road around the time of the crash.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference number 0093 of May 1, 2023.”
